Sorry I’ve been quiet this week, it’s been a weird one. My accident/traumatic brain injury/brain surgery was 4 years ago on Tuesday and I had trouble coming up with what to write about it. I’ve gone through so much yet have no idea what to say about it… And I still don’t. I think it’s the first time I’ve actually being stunned by what happened to me. I feel so weird. All I can think is “How on earth did I survive that?!”
I’d like to share something that my friend shared a few days ago that really spoke to me, and I imagine it will speak to other brain injury survivors too:
“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
― Haruki Murakami
Sorry if you were expecting more words, but I think you can understand. (Sometimes less is more!) I’d like to take this time to thank everyone who supports Alphabet Brains and the community that has been made because of you all 🙂

Wow. I just saw this. What happened to you?
Hi Stephanie, I fell down the stairs and had a Large right frontal extradural haematoma (blood clot on the brain) as well as a skull and jaw fracture, I’ve just updated this post to include my survivor story as a few others have asked too 🙂 read all about my accident here: https://alphabetbrains.com/2016/05/19/naomis-story/
