#BrainQA, Question 12: Social media: How much do you share about your brain injury?

#BrainQA: Q&A to bring brain injury survivors together and to raise brain injury awareness. Every Monday at 8pm (UK time) on facebooktwitter and instagram

The following answers are users from facebooktwitter and instagram, thank you everyone for answering!

How much do you share about your brain injury?

‘I try to share a lot to increase understanding and raise awareness but it’s impossible to paint a perfectly clear picture of the several ways it affects me on a daily basis, which is frustrating. But it’s one of those things that you don’t get until you live with it.’

‘Very little, it scares most people away’

‘Not enough. People don’t understand nor do they try. Then again, it’s hard to wrap your head around what its like to all of the sudden not know how to spell or how to screw the cap on a bottle of toothpaste. I tell them to look online or if I see an article I’ll send it to them and say, “this was/is my life”‘

‘I only share in other TBI groups, people there understand. I don’t have the energy to educate the masses, I leave that to the less injured because they do a great job’
